Step Up 2

Principal photography began July 30, 2007 in Baltimore on “Step Up 2,” the follow-up to the 2006 Touchstone Pictures’/Summit Entertainment sensation “Step Up.” (“Step Up 2″ hits theaters February 14, 2008 – Valentine’s Day).

Jon Chu directed this sequel — in which none of the original cast appears — to the coming-of-age dance film starring newcomers Briana Evigan, Robert Hoffman (“You Got Served,” “She’s the Man”), Telisha Shaw and Adam G. Sevani. Also starring is singer/model/actress Cassie, who will sing a song featured in the film and on the soundtrack.

“Step Up 2” returns to the Maryland School of the Arts and follows the story of popular dance student Patrick (Robert Hoffman) and rebellious new student Andie (Briana Evigan) – this time turning the orignal movie’s plot upside down.

“Step Up,” directed by Anne Fletcher and which starred Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, was a runaway hit for the studio and made a movie star out of Channing Tatum, who just may receive an Oscar nod for his upcoming film, “Stop Loss.”

“Step Up” opened to more than $20 million in August 2006 and went on to an impressive gross of over $65 million. Not bad for a movie that cost less than $20 million to produce. The film went out to make even more on DVD.
